Put Up or Shut Up

Joshua 17:14-16 (NLT)

“The descendants of Joseph came to Joshua and asked, “Why have you given us only one portion of land as our homeland when the Lord has blessed us with so many people?” Joshua replied, “If there are so many of you, and if the hill country of Ephraim is not large enough for you, clear out land for yourselves in the forest where the Perizzites and Rephaites live.”  The descendants of Joseph responded, “It’s true that the hill country is not large enough for us. But all the Canaanites in the lowlands have iron chariots, both those in Beth-shan and its surrounding settlements and those in the valley of Jezreel. They are too strong for us.”
 
Periodically in life, you will notice that you get comfortable and lazy. You live in a cycle of boring routines and you find yourself in a rut. When you consider your circumstances, things are not the way they should be. Yet, you are not motivated to do anything about it. The most you do is complain about all the necessities that you are lacking. Sometimes we blame others for the predicament.
 
The children of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh, were in such a situation. They had a sense of their potential and position. In this translation, they said they had so many people. The KJV says, “for we are a great people.” Yet, they had only received one lot. Simply put, they felt the land was too small for them. They deserved better. So they went to Joshua and complained.
 
Interestingly, they accurately assessed the conditions of their environment. There were enemies on every side. They felt these challenges were impossibilities because of the natural and structural advantages the enemies had. Fighting the enemy to get what they felt they deserved was not an option based on the realities. There were giants in the mountains and they lived in the woods and caves, making them impregnable. In the valley, they had iron chariots. They expected Joshua to expand their coasts based on the lands that were already conquered.
 
Beloved, are you in the same predicament? You feel you deserve more. You want to do more. Your assessment of yourself and your potential far outweigh your level of accomplishments. Are you frustrated and feeling left out? Are you angry and making demands on people based on what you feel you deserve? Are you ready for God’s answer? Let’s see what Joshua told these guys to do.
 

Joshua 17:17-18 (NLT)

“Then Joshua said to the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh, the descendants of Joseph, Since you are so large and strong, you will be given more than one portion. The forests of the hill country will be yours as well. Clear as much of the land as you wish, and take possession of its farthest corners. And you will drive out the Canaanites from the valleys, too, even though they are strong and have iron chariots.” 
 
What was Joshua telling this people? If you don’t like where you are, do something about it. You will have to face your fears, face the enemies that you feel are stronger than you, and rise to the occasion of who you say you are. To walk in the blessing you know God has for you, you must go out in faith, in the name of the Lord, to confront all your fears. You must do what you are afraid to do. Otherwise, you will live and die in frustration.
 
Like Joshua, I am telling you, beloved, that the land is yours. Though the enemy may seem too strong for you, God will give you the victory, if you have the stomach to fight. Don’t join those that go about throwing themselves around. They talk about how great they are with no evidence or sign even from God that their claim is remotely true. I call it the ‘exaggerated sense of self’. They refuse to submit to authority because they are some great one. Beloved, run from such attitudes. Roll up your sleeves and start your fight. You have to put up or shut up. May the Lord give you wisdom. Amen.

Have You Looked Up Lately?

James 1:17 (KJV)

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. 

 

James 1:17 (MSG)

Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle.

 

Our lives are fraught with activities and busy schedules. If you are raising a young family and you are a working Mom, you have to deal with work, then homework, little league, band practice or piano lessons, ballet and the list goes on. Then it’s dinner and then the husband and his needs. If you are a single parent, the matters get worse because you have to do it all by yourself. Men deal with financial, marital and job related issues that tend to stress them out and emasculate them. Then factor in all the extended relationships including the church ones that are stressful. Those of us that are self-employed deal with a host of issues that can keep us zoned into a world where we are disconnected from everything though we are there physically.
 
Young people are faced with so many very adult issues that the rate of suicides is increasing exponentially. Peer pressures, direction for life, premature sexual involvements and unwanted pregnancies. The list is long and frustrating even for affected parents.
 
Our minds can become saturated with all these dizzying activities and issues until we become so stressed and pre-occupied with ourselves that we lose sight of God, His grace, His power and His love for us. We start thinking and acting like it’s all about us. We start depending on ourselves and work in our own strength. When we finally hear ourselves we sound like this “….All I have to do;….I am doing everything and nobody is helping me;….If I don’t do it, it will not get done…….” 
 
Have you looked up lately? Our text says “Every good gift and every perfect gift” are coming down from above, from our heavenly Father. Even the things that we are able to do are still coming from Him. He is the one that sent us and gave us the ability to do all that we are doing. The truth is that we have lost sight of Him in the process of doing. 
 
Have you looked up lately, to behold the greatness of your Father, so His love and strength can cover you again? Haven’t you busied yourself to self effort where you are doing the Will of God in your own strength? Have you looked up lately to see the streams of God’s Light of grace and refreshing coming down to fill you? Or have you allowed your mind to be incarcerated with the attacks of the enemy and challenges of life? 
 
Look UP, Beloved! There are good gifts coming down everyday. The psalmist says “He loads us down daily with benefits.” Have you considered your benefit plan lately – His all sufficient grace?
 
Don’t blame God for your ills. He didn’t cause them or send them. He is a sovereign God and there are so many reasons things are allowed in our lives. But if God sent them directly, it will be a good and perfect gift. Beloved, it is coming down. Look UP! The answer is not on the ground or in your circumstances nor in people. It is coming down from the throne. From your heavenly Father. Pay attention to His credentials: He is your Father; He is totally loving, Holy and Righteous in all His ways. His throne is established in Righteousness and Judgement. There is no deceitfulness in God. He does not change (Malachi 3:6). He is not fickle nor double-minded.
 
Look UP today, Beloved. Your gifts are waiting. The rivers of light are waiting to flood your mind with revelation and peace. You will get all your work done today with joy. How? Start worshipping and praising God. Get in His presence and life, light and grace will flood your soul.

Be Strong in the Lord

The charge from the Lord this week is, “Be ye strong in the Lord.” The time for lukewarmness is over. The season for prayerlessness is over. The season for spiritual carelessness is over. Be ye strong in the Lord. Beloved, this is a divine privilege, as the Holy Spirit is ministering to me. God’s power is limitless. God’s power is unstoppable. God’s power is irresistible. And we
are being charged to enter into the realm where the Lord our God will show Himself strong. Beloved, the strength of God can enter into your soul and you will go from a
weakling to a giant. It is a command and you need it. You have so many enemies. You have so many things opposing you. You have mountains to climb. You have valleys to traverse. You have distractions to overcome. It’s a command. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His
might. I echo the words of the psalmist in Psalm 46:
 
Psalm 46:1 (KJV): 
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
 
Therein lies the secret; that if He is my strength, I will pursue Him. If He is my strength, I will look for Him. If He is my strength, I will seek Him without reserve, wholeheartedly. Because I want Him to take me higher. I want Him to defeat these enemies. I want Him to propel me into the realms of glory and victory and joy and power; where I’m able to run down the enemy, where I’m able to defeat the strongholds of Satan, where I’m able to take back territories stolen from me.
 
Be strong in the Lord. It’s a command. You can no longer rest on your laurels. You can no longer rest on the victories of yesterday. God wants to do something new and He’s left it in the realm of intercession and prayer, in the realm of sacrifice, in the realm of diligence. Because He’s a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. There is a reserve of strength and power belonging to all of us and God is calling the Church, “Come and get it. Come and get it. Come and get it. Seek Me until you enter in to it.” You can be strong. You can be moved by the Holy Spirit where you overcome your limitations, your weaknesses, your rejection, your fears, your insecurities, your doubts. Beloved, it belongs to us.
 
“In the Lord,” he says, “be strong.” You remember David says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation.” And the question came to him, “Who shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1) In other words, “I entered a realm where I saw the Lord my God for who He is. And I wondered then who is there to fear.” But if I’m not in that realm, I’m afraid. Many times when I’ve declared my confidence in the Lord, some people are even concerned. Some people view it as pride. Some people view it as other things. Not knowing that the psalmist says, “My soul shall make her boast in the Lord. But only the humble shall hear thereof and be glad” (Psalm 34:2). My soul shall make her boast in the Lord.
 
Beloved, there is a sense of invincibility when we enter into the realm of God’s power. And that’s what I want to charge you to do. Be strong in the Lord. There’s no more reason for your excuses. You cannot excuse your failure. You cannot excuse your weakness. You cannot excuse your fear. You cannot excuse your rejection. It is time for you to tap into the power of God to show up in your heart and strengthen you, to show up in your spirit and build you up, to show up in your heart and raise you from your crippleness and stand you on your own two feet. This
is the time to dispense with self-confidence and get into God-confidence. Get into God’s power. Get into God’s favor. That is the season God is calling you and I into, in the name of Jesus. Forget what you can do. Forget what you have done. God has a miracle with your name on it today. In Jesus name, Amen.

The Triumph of Faith

We celebrate your victory because I’m believing that the Word you have heard has caused every cripple to start crawling, if not walking and even running, because the Lord our God is faithful. He sends a Word in season to confront us, to challenge us, to deliver us from unbelief. Your faith must triumph because you’re born of God, you’re in Christ. Hallelujah. And God’s mandate is for you to reveal Him, to release His fragrance to cause men to see Him and to experience His Glory, in Jesus‘ name. 
 

Galatians 1:1 (KJV): 

Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

 

Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ… What an exciting phenomenon or thought when what you are is by the Lord Jesus. You’re born of God. That’s why you will overcome. That’s the secret to all the victories at Resurrection House For All Nations. God said to do it. It has nothing to do with us, our prowess, our wisdom. No, it’s His will. It’s born of God and it has overcome every hell and high water. 
 
But by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead. I’m telling you, this Resurrection power is the secret to triumph, and the will of God is the secret. You must fight. You must fight to get in the will of God for your life. And whatever that is out of whack, that you keep believing God that faith in God will rewire and reconstruct things and make it possible. in the name of Jesus. It says: 
 

Galatians 1:2-4 (KJV): 

2 And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia: 3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, “Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: 
 
 

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world. That’s our ticket. He has already done it! Now we take this to Him in prayer, “Lord, You died to deliver me from this present evil world. I must triumph over this thing. I must overcome them. And I pray it, in the name of Jesus. Let me experience Your victory over their lust. Let me experience triumph over their fears, over their covetousness, over their pride, over their sickness, over whatever the world has to offer. You died that I may be delivered from this present evil world.” I claim it today, in Jesus name, and I claim it for you. Glory to God. 

 

Watch this, “According to the will of God and our father.” My triumph is His will. Your triumph is His will to overcome satan, to overcome this world. Jesus has paid for it, so I take it to God in prayer until I see it happen in my life, in Jesus name. I’m telling you, this message is blessing me because I’m taking it to the altar myself when I wait on God. I need some things pulled down. I need some things changed. I need some things resolved, in Jesus name, not just in my personal life, but in the lives of the congregation, in the End Time Apostolic Network. Total victory! We want triumph across the board. That’s our only hope. That’s our only place. We don’t have anything else. We don’t have any other weapon. We don’t have any other solution. This is it! That’s why I’m thundering it, in Jesus name. 
 

Galatians 1:5 (KJV): 

To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. 
 
And Amen. Glory to God. Hallelujah! I don’t even want to go any further, Beloved. Hallelujah! Let’s embrace it. It’s a finished work. Our faith will rise. Let’s stop looking at it as something God is yet to do. He takes me back to what He said to us, “For the works has been finished from the foundation of the world” (Hebrews 4:3). You see? If we don’t even get that, then get this. He died for us. He gave Himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God. Hallelujah. And our Father. Glory to God. To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. And Amen and Amen and Amen! Hallelujah. 
 
I decree and declare your triumph, in Jesus name. I decree and declare my triumph, in Jesus name. Glory to God. That’s why God gives us this devotional for you and I to get together and congregate around God’s Word and let the Glory manifest what has been promised. We cannot do this by will power. We cannot do this on our own. We have to use our faith to connect with this supernatural intervention of God in our everyday lives to subjugate the powers of darkness, to subjugate the god of this world, to overcome them and their power and their prowess and their pride, in Jesus name. PPP – their Pride, their Prowess and their Power. Amen, Amen and Amen. Glory to God. Then Paul writes: 
 

Galatians 1:6 (KJV): 

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 
 
That’s the challenge. We’re seduced by these difficulties, by these intransigent behaviors and obstacles in our path. And then we cower and weaken in our faith. And all of sudden, we are in the land of struggles, instead of in the land of triumph. We have to take it back this week, in Jesus name. It said, “You’ve been removed into another gospel…” 
 

Galatians 1:7 (KJV): 

Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 
 
 
Which is not another. Satan comes and tags along and changes the dynamic, so that we can be comfortable with no results. And then we come up with religious reasons to explain the reality of God away. And we tolerate sickness, we tolerate poverty, we tolerate sin, oppression, lust and all these things warring against us, instead fighting them at the altar, declaring what Jesus has done and keep claiming it until we receive it. Better get up, Beloved, and join the fight, because you must win, in Jesus name. Glory to God. He says, “Which is not another, but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.” 
 

Galatians 1:8-12 (KJV): 

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

 

Let him be accursed. See? Let him be accursed. Let him be an anathema. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you, than what ye have received let him be accursed. He said it twice, Beloved. For do I now persuade men, or God? O do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. Nor by man, but by the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. 
 
Isn’t that wonderful? Thank God that He is giving us weapons to win. Thank God you will take this Word to your own altar and challenge the grace of God to manifest in your life, as I will do. And may God answer all of us with joy, and we can come out and give testimony of how wonderful He is. Amen and Amen. I love you.

Understanding God’s Economy

We’re studying issues that relate to our finances because we must learn how to prosper in the realm of the Spirit, prosper with God, defying mammon, defying every barricade of satan – nepotism, favoritism, all the -isms out there; where God steps in sovereignly and puts His foot down and blesses a man and exalts a man. You need two things in the realm of the Spirit that will cause God’s power to rule in this natural: humility and the fear of the Lord. Now, look at Psalm 112.
 
Psalm 112:1 (KJV):
Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
 
Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord! I’ve discovered that the only fear of the Lord we know is avoiding the things we consider as sin. But the fear of the Lord in normal relationships is what is messing us up. Let me run quickly to Psalm 34. It says, “Come ye children, let me teach you the fear of the Lord.” In other words, the fear of the Lord is taught, and you will see clearly as I find this thing that this is how the enemy steals from us and robs us blind and we don’t know it.
 
Psalm 34:9 (KJV):
O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
 
Why is it, then, that many believers lack something and they don’t think that anything is wrong with them? He says, “When a man fears the Lord, there is no want there.” It’s either we will accept the Word of God as written or we will keep trying to use our experience to redefine the Word of God. That’s what pride is, which is totally contrary to humility. That’s the pride I see; that people believe that because they feel the anointing and they pray every day and can hear from God, and they don’t think anything is wrong. Yeah, you may be hearing from the Lord, but this stuff is still messed up. And if you won’t allow Him to send you the message how He chooses to, you will keep missing it because you want everything directly. So when He sends a man, you don’t receive it. Listen to this. It said, “There is no want to them that fear the Lord,” not just in the areas you think are important.
 
Psalm 34:10 (KJV):
The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.
 
And He makes another promise for those that seek the Lord, not those that keep praying petition prayers. Seeking the Lord is His face, you want to be a part of what He’s doing on the earth, you identify with Him. Watch this:
 
Psalm 34:11 (KJV):
Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
 
Now look at the fear of the Lord. This is what I’m saying. This is where all our stuff keeps getting messed up.
 
Psalm 34:12-16 (KJV):
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. 16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
 
You see now? He starts delineating the principles of fearing the Lord. You start with your tongue! I’ve told people, listen, so many things that happen in all of our lives is what we said when other people were going through things. We mouthed off. We made a comment. And then they signed you up for the same trial. He said, “Come, let me teach you the fear of the Lord.”
 
“Blessed,” Psalm 112 says, “is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.” Hallelujah! You see? When I talked about this in church, I was saying that I understand the fear of the Lord, but this delighting greatly in His commandments… I study the Word, I love the Word of God. But to delight in it greatly is another level. So that’s how blessing comes. It says…
 
Psalm 112:2-3(KJV):
2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
 
Come on, Beloved, it’s either you want to redefine the Word of God or you accept it as written. Where is the wealth in your house? See? It’s lack of the fear of God. It’s lack of delight in the Word of the Lord. It’s the using of our tongue and wagging everywhere and placing it on people, particularly spiritual leaders and anointed people. We bring all kinds of problems to ourselves. We cut off our prosperity. We don’t even know when it left us.
 
May God grant you wisdom! May God help you! May God cause you to understand the way, the legal tender in this Kingdom, how you can engineer the prosperity of God and satan cannot do anything about it because humility is beyond his purview. He can’t handle it. He doesn’t understand it. That’s why Jesus destroyed him through death. Not by power, through humility.
 
May God help you and I destroy satan, in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen and amen.

The Paradox of Rest

The rest of God is a realm where our hearts are at rest in the presence of God. It’s not that everything is solved, and there are no problems.  No! It’s simply means that the heart knows the Lord, and knows that everything is taken care of in Him. The works were finished from the foundation of the world. 
 

Hebrews 4:3 (KJV)

For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

 
How could it be then (you may ask) that everything was taken care of at creation, and yet, the fight is so fierce in your life? Beloved, the fight is simply an indication that our lives were conceived in sin. Then once we arrived, we lived in sin until we came to Christ. Everything thus far has been done outside of the Will of God and contrary to the Divine plan. Once we are saved and we start learning the plans and purposes of God for our lives, a war ensues and satan and his demons begin their fierce opposition to our attempt to enter the glories of the plan that God had for us when He created us.
 
Don’t get intimidated by the fight. It is a good sign you are headed in the right direction. All heaven wants from you is to believe that it’s already done, and completely finished and settled. If you believe, you will find the rest of the Lord.
 
Remember from our text, that God had everything worked out before He delivered the children of Israel from Egypt. They were still required, however, to believe God through all the issues of the wilderness existence, with all its attending inconveniences and wars. They murmured constantly, and refused to believe that it was all finished as God said. They felt justified in their unbelief due to the realities of the struggle. The circumstances were indeed difficult, but faith was their answer, and they rejected it.
 
You and I are in exactly the same place. There are many fierce fights in our lives. Sometimes, the struggle has been so intense, we frowned at the suggestion that it was already solved, let alone being solved from the foundation of the world. If we are not careful, we will fall into the same tragic mistakes made by the children of Israel. The testimonies of Joshua and all the battles they fought and won, clearly show that all they had to do was to keep believing God, despite the circumstances and obey God’s instructions. The Lord was going to fight the battle for them anyway.
 
What then was the problem –  enemies within! That was their problem, and that is our problem. It’s definitely easier to conquer the enemies without. The main battle is the enemy within. The ability to enter into the grace of the victories without, is the victory over pride and self determination – the war raging within. To bring oneself to submit to the ways of God that may seem foolish and ridiculous is the main fight of faith. The Scripture says: 
 

Hebrews 4:11&10 (KJV)

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.  For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.  

Beloved, you have to fight and labor vigorously to get yourself under the mighty hand of God. You have to discount your mind and believe the Word of God; otherwise, you become an unbeliever with your eyes wide open. This fight will bring you to the conviction that God’s way is the best one for you. You will stop doing things your way. You will experience the joy and the rest of being cared for by God.
 

I invite you to retire from fighting against God in your life. Instead, fight against yourself, until you are able to submit to the Word of God, which is His Will. You will know the peace that passeth understanding, and the rest of God will enter your life. I love you, and may the Lord our God bless you with His peace and rest today, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

The Mystery of Being the Salt of the Earth

Beloved, I’m so excited as we talk about the mystery of salt. We have been given a great challenge from the Lord our God to be the seasoning, the preservation of the culture, the preservation of our nation and our world because we are here. Think about it. Abraham started praying from 50, and on and on and on, and went down to 10. And God said, “If I find 10 in Sodom, I am not going to destroy it.” Beloved, can you look up today in all sincerity and say, “I know that because I’m here, because of the wealth in my relationship with God, because of the strength of our communion,” that God would not destroy your city because of you; that you are enough salt to prevent judgment. What a great thought! What a powerful concept! God can save the nation because of you. He said, “If I find 10.” Wow!

 

That’s why God said, “Who you are to Me is more important than what you do for Me.” He didn’t state it that way, but that’s my derivation from what was spoken. And I read Leviticus 2:13 once again. The notes say, “In ancient times, salt represented permanence because it preserved food. A covenant of salt denoted an enduring covenant that was renewed with successive generations.” It says…
 

Leviticus 2:13 (KJV):

And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.

 
Beloved, Jesus said to the people in the churches in Revelation, He said, “You are not hot. You are not cold. I wish thou were hot or cold. But I want to spew you out of My mouth” (Revelation 3:14-16). The seasoning is important. You have to be hot for Him. You have to be passionate. You have to be zealous. There are things the Lord will speak and He will say, “The zeal of the Lord shall perform this,” like the birth of Jesus through Mary by the power of the Holy Ghost. Beloved, do you understand this concept? I’m speaking so many mysteries so fast. You have to really listen to these things, study it and meditate on it so you can understand how relevant you are, how important you are in the agenda of God, how we should all fight to avoid compromise because it ruins everything. It ruins everything. We are the salt of the earth. We are relevant in God’s agenda. 
 
It says so that nothing should be lacking in your offering to the Lord. In all your offerings, you must offer salt. This seasoning, this fire, this passion must be there. This love for Him. Paul wrote, “The love of Christ constraineth us” (2 Corinthians 5:14). There’s no way we can watch what’s going on and not be moved to action and not do something for Him because of Him. Oh! May God change your life. May God challenge you. May God open your eyes to see you in that home alone watching this or watching that. Remember, you are salt. Remember, you are called as a seasoning. Remember and clean up your closet, and come out and start impacting your world for Him. Bring God joy for saving you. Bring Him joy for delivering you. Bring Him joy for blessing you. Let Him see you using your wealth to further His Kingdom. You see?
 
Yes, Beloved. God has blessed me with things. But I’m telling you, I never went out on my own to get any of those things. I never redirected any resource to personal things. No, it is God directing to do this or not to do that. It is His counsel and will. Because He doesn’t mind you being blessed, so long as He’s first. He will bless you with any of these things. That’s why He said don’t pursue after them. No, serve Him first. Love Him first. Let the fragrance, the seasoning of your presence impact the world.
 
I remember you come around people and then they curse and say, “Oh, Reverend. I’m sorry.” You see? You hadn’t said a word, but they felt convicted by your presence. They know they can’t curse. That’s being salt, Beloved. You set the standard. 
 
Ooh! I was convicted to no end once. I was in downtown Atlanta years ago. And I was trying to cross the street, and the hand appears that says “Don’t walk.” I saw all these people, and I knew they were probably church people. They walked anyway. So I stood there. This thing was taking unusually long to change. And it just remained one young, white man and myself. Finally, I looked and said, “Oh, this thing must be malfunctioning.” I looked at him like beckoning on him, “Come on. Let’s just go since it doesn’t seem to be working.” And the young man looked at me and said, “I am principled. I won’t do it.” Wow! I felt so little. Here I am, the preacher, and I was ready to go along. I know some people don’t like the preacher confessing such things. But I mean I’m no God to worship. I’m the servant of the Lord. 
 
But the young man convicted me. And of course, I stood there. And do you know, as everything else, immediately after, that light changed. I said, “Lord, have mercy!” This is how we miss our breakthrough. This is how we make errors. The light changed! I was less than one minute away from breakthrough, and I almost blew it. Thank God for a principled young man that convicted me and whipped me in shape!
 
Are you willing to be convicted? Because our generation doesn’t want to be convicted. Anytime you preach something convicting, they say, “Oh! You’re beating me up. Tell me something good. Thrill me! Make me feel good.” So you’re going to feel good all the way into hell? May God bring deliverance to us, in the mighty name of Jesus, as the truth of the Word of God is being propagated to awaken this lukewarm church, awaken this apostate church, awaken this fatigued, beleaguered, compromise-ridden church. May God help us, in Jesus name.
 
Are you ready to be relevant? Are you ready to stand up for Him? Are you ready to impact your friends and go and apologize to them? And say, “Listen, I haven’t been a good example. But I am asking you all to forgive me because I don’t want any of you to go to hell on my account.” That is being salt, Beloved. You straighten it out. You go and make amends in relationships. You go and ask for forgiveness so that your seasoning will resume and the people can embrace you and what God is doing in your life. What a powerful concept! May God change your world by this message, in Jesus name. Amen and amen!

Appreciating the Power & Greatness of Passover, Part 2

Beloved, we are looking at Passover, and we’re looking at when God invented this to bring Israel out of Egypt. And these are the prescriptions He gave to them on how they ought to eat this. He says in verse 7 of Exodus 12…
 

Exodus 12:7-8 (KJV):

7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. 8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
 

You notice? Unleavened bread. When we come to Passover we must be unleavened. The Bible says that leaven is malice and wickedness (1 Corinthians 5:8). And so many things happen to us where we end up having issues, and it says we have to let that leaven go. 

 

It says eat with unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs. You notice? Bitter herbs. There is no covenant or destiny without some bitter herbs. It’s part of the journey. It’s part of the covenant. None of us like it, but it’s part of the process. God said to Abraham, “I’m going to have your children serve another nation. They will oppress them for 400 years.” Not 4 days, not 40 days…400 years! Wow! That is a long time. And He said, “They shall come out with great substance” (Genesis 15:13-14). They’re basically Egyptians, generations born never returned to the Promised Land. And then the oppression took place and they went through so much. And so, God said bring in your suffering in your worship to me. 

 
Many times we want to worship God away from our sufferings. No, you have to bring in every pain you’ve gone through, every bitter thing you’ve gone through. You bring it into the celebration of your Passover and it will be authentic. Otherwise, you’re worshipping God in empty air. But you cannot deal with what has really happened to you. It says, “And with bitter herbs they shall eat it.”
 

Exodus 12:9-11 (KJV):

9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. 10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire. 11

And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the Lord’s passover.

 

And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded. You notice? He said, “You’re going to eat this.” First of all, you have to burn it with fire. Secondly, you must bring bitter herbs. Thirdly, you must have unleavened bread showing that you have resolved yourself in every bitter thing that you have ever gone through and you’re not holding any malice and you’re not holding any grudges or judgment. And now, you need to be poised to come out of whatever you’re in. If you are bound, get ready to come out. If you are sick, get ready to come out. If you are tormented, get ready to come out. He says, “So, you have to eat it with your loins girded, as a man ready for action, ready for movement, ready for deliverance.” 

 

Your shoes on your feet. See? Let your feet be shod with the preparation of the Gospel (Ephesians 6:15). And your staff in your hand. Your authority. And ye shall eat it in haste. This is not for pleasure! This is warfare! This is readying myself for God’s next move. So every time I’m ready for God’s next move, I must take some time, get some bread and wine and commune with the Lord. And say, “Lord I’m ready! I’m ready for your next move. I’m ready for the power of the blood to work in my life. I’m ready for the death angel to come and slay everything contrary to me and free me from the oppression of the Egyptians in my life.” 

 
And ye shall eat it in haste: it is the Lord’s passover. The Lord’s Passover should be done in haste. It should not be done as a matter of pleasure and leisurely. It should be done loins girded, shoes on your feet, staff in your hand! Ready for battle! Ready for exploits! 
 

Exodus 12:12 (KJV):

For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.
 
See? The greatness of Passover is that God uses it to judge all illegal gods in our lives, all things dominating us. God judges them by the covenant of blood engineered by Passover. Hallelujah! For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord. “I will execute judgment against all these gods! I will execute judgment against the Egyptians! I’m gonna take their first born! I will inflict this judgment on them as they have done to My people.” 
 

Exodus 12:13 (KJV):

And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
 

What is the greatness of Passover? That I’m hidden under the mighty wings of God and the judgment passes over me. It’s not just a name. It’s actually an action thing. I will pass over you. So it’s called Passover. So what makes judgment pass over? The blood! What makes death pass over? The blood! What distinguishes me from the world? The blood! What is the thing that separates me from the world? The blood! The cross! That’s where He died. These guys killed lamb and put it on the altar and burned it. But as you’ll find out in the next few days, Jesus gave Himself as a Passover Lamb just as God has commanded. You see? 

 
God says, “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” 
 

Exodus 12:14 (KJV):

And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
 

See? This is commanded by the Lord and we have to keep it as a feast. We have to! We have to! Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 11, (and we’re going to get there very quickly) he says, “As often as you do this, eat this bread and drink this cup, you do show the Lord’s death until He comes” (1 Corinthians 11:26). So we have to do this. It’s an ordinance the Lord has commanded. It’s a seal of our covenant with Him. It’s a guarantee that death, judgment, destruction, mayhem will pass over us.

 

I wish we had time to talk about how to invoke the power of the blood coming out of Passover. Do you appreciate the Passover Lamb? He is Jesus Christ! Remember whatever we read here was fulfilled in Him. And whatever blessing they received is ours today. May every judgment and every pain and everything going on pass over you. Whatever that is going on in the land, let it pass over you, in Jesus name. Amen! God bless you!

Appreciating the Power & Greatness of Passover, Part 1

Today, we examine the power and the greatness of Passover. We want to begin with the history, the origin as God gave it to Moses for the children of Israel. Exodus chapter 12:
 

Exodus 12:1-2 (KJV):

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying, 2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

 

If you look at the terrain, Beloved, you know that the time to consider Passover in your life will be in your seasons of testings and difficulties. Passover was given in Egypt, not in the Promise Land. Passover was given at a time when God had started His process of deliverance. Passover, Beloved, was given. And God said, “If you practice this, the moment you do this,” He says, “Your year will begin.” It will be the beginning of months. 

 

And we are in the New Testament where Jesus has died. And every Sunday at our church we receive the Lord’s Supper. We observe this. And the moment we can enter into the reality, the understanding, the power of it, that is when our lives begin. That is when our year begins. So I encourage all of you spiritual leaders and people of God alike that you consider the Lord’s Supper every New Year’s Eve to start a new year.

 
“This month,” the Lord said unto the Nation, “Shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.” The first month of the year to you. That’s really when your year begins; when by covenant, through the blood of Jesus, you can leave the previous year with all its troubles and errors and problems, and you by covenant enter into a new year. Otherwise, things repeat because most of what links our years and causes this season of trouble and pain are violations of spiritual laws. And many times there are demons or spirits attached to these things. And we must break free by the covenant of the blood of Jesus. I’m just using the natural before we get into the spiritual. 
 

Exodus 12:3-4 (KJV):

3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: 4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
 
Here you see that the next thing that God says this Passover, this sacrificing of the lamb is for every house. Every house, not every individual. Every house. And if the house is too small to eat a whole lamb, then they need to join to other houses. Don’t you see, Beloved, God’s intention is that we all serve God in the house. Many of you raise your children and you give them the latitude to either choose or not to choose. No. It’s you and your house serving the Lord. It’s everybody under this covenant. Because the moment you allow anyone under the umbrella God has given you to have this personal discretion, they become fresh meat to the devil, as you will find in this story. Because any house that was not covered by this blood from the Passover lamb will become a house of judgment. And the first-born died, as we will see as we read along. But verse 5 says:
 

Exodus 12:5 (KJV):

Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
 
Without blemish. Beloved, He’s telling us the prescriptions God gave that were all fulfilled in Jesus Christ – a Lamb without blemish. You cannot come into covenant with God half-stepping. You must bring your best. You must give all that you have. God must have preeminence. God must have first place. You see? Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats.
 

Exodus 12:6-7 (KJV):

6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. 7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
 

You see? God says kill the lamb of the Passover after you have settled the family sizes that will accommodate the consumption of the lamb. You kill the lamb in that evening. And then you take the blood and strike it on the posts and the lintels of the house. You are sealing the house, the people in the house, the family with the blood. You see? That’s the greatness of Passover because the blood coursing in our veins came from the breathe of God. And so, life is in the blood. And when blood is shed, even though the blood of animals could not remove sins, but it was giving testimony to the real blood that is to come, which is the blood of the Jesus. And they were asked to put it on the door posts. And today we have to put it on the gates of our lives to keep us from whatever is capable of entering in and spoiling us. Remember that.

Exodus 12:8-10 (KJV):

Beloved, you have received the Lord Jesus as your personal Savior, but do you have appreciation for Passover, His blood shed for you? Have you entered the reality of that power in the blood? Have you received it? Are you covenant-minded? Are you free from curses in your mind? Has Passover changed you? Has your year begun? Let’s consider these things in the next post, so we see what God intended in the way He asked them to suit up to eat this Passover. God bless you.

Back Peddlers

“But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.”
Mark 10:31 (KJV)
 

Those of us that have walked with the Lord over a period of time, run the greatest risk of ending up in the back of the line. The tendency is to get fatigued and lazy about spiritual things. Some have found themselves dealing with things they never thought they would be involved with in two lifetimes. Others have been wounded and greatly disappointed with the whole issue of church as we know it today. As a result, our zeal is gone. We are too familiar with ministry, fatigued with pastors and all the weaknesses of spiritual leadership. The buzz of disgruntlement is deafening in contrast to the genuine voices of those who still appreciate spiritual leadership and love Jesus, despite all the issues.

Our text warns us that the first shall be last and that those who just started will outpace the veterans. How can this happen when the expectation is that time and experience should induce a deeper walk and love for Jesus, which should translate to love for His children and for His work?

Let’s consider the environment of our text. The previous verses give us clarity to this mystery. How can people that have been on this journey end up at the back? The text below answers the question. 

“And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” 
Mark 10:29-30 (KJV)

 

The Scripture says the answer to this mystery is doing things only for the single purpose of Him and His gospel. Motive is everything.

Do you remember when you were zealous for Him? There was nothing you would not do for Him and for His kingdom. You were there whenever and wherever you were needed to help, pray, counsel or whatever was needed. You gave to Him without reservation. All you had belonged to God. There was no sacrifice too big.

Now, you are mature, wiser and more comfortable. Armed with the jaundice of church fatigue, immature leaders and self-appointed prophets, you are hurt, disappointed and disenchanted. Some are even disillusioned with the whole idea of church. Some gave so much, but were abused by people and even leadership.

The bottom line is that you are lukewarm, and you seldom make sacrifices for Him. Some of us don’t even go to church anymore. Beloved, this will cost you in the end.

Yes! You may have found fault with church, people and everything. You may even be correct. However, what fault have you found in Jesus? Absolutely none. Forget all of us and re-focus on Him. Don’t let your yesterday be more powerful than your today. If your level of zeal and sacrifice is lower this year than it has been in the past, you are back peddling. Back peddlers will end up in the back of the line. Don’t let it happen to you.
